Louis and I had such a fun conversation. I was lucky enough to talk to Louis twice, and in the green room he gave me some great positioning advice for my new software project that I'm working on each day for when this is all over.

We talked about connectivity, relationships and what he did when his family business faced a recession. Louis reminds our listeners that "you have a larger network than you know" and encourages everyone to ask for help from their network as well as do specific things at this time to keep building those relationships.

For those who are trying to stay relevant, Louis talked about getting retro and picking up the phone to call people in your network to see how they're doing, including friends, previous customers and potential customers — with no intention other than to see how they're doing.

Why we love him?

  • He grew his family business to become the largest manufacturer of office furniture in western Canada.
  • His friends describe him as "an engineer with a personality." He's famous among his peers for being the guy who knows everyone.
  • His parents came from Hungary in 1957 to find a better life. And even though he was born here, he couldn't speak English until he was 6 but that didn't stop him from thriving in life.
