Logo's are so exciting and stressful at the same time. They're an emotional piece of your business that, just like picking the right name for your business, take centre stage. They define who you are and how you look.

Every graphic designer is going to bring a different perspective, and a good one will ask all the right questions to artistically convey the right message. Your logo should say everything that needs to be said about you—after all, a picture is worth a thousand words, and you're hoping your logo conveys the right message to your audience.

Well, let's not hope. Let's get it right by understanding what questions your graphic designer should be asking you. We want to make sure they're giving you the best result possible.

Here's a list of great questions we ask our clients when we're designing logos for them.

  • Describe in one sentence your business/service.
  • List five words that represent your brand.
  • What do you want your new logo to achieve?
  • What message or emotion do you want your logo to portray?
  • Who are your potential clients?
  • Who are your main competitors and how do you differ from them?
  • What do you like or dislike about your competitor’s branding?
  • Do you have a specific idea in mind for your logo?
  • Are there any colours that you do not want to use?
  • Do you have a particular font you would like to use—or ones you definitely do not want to use?
  • What logos do you like and why?
